(Sharon, PA) First-year players Addison Say had 34 assists, Taylor Simon 27 digs and Madelyn Nosel 19 kills as the seventh-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team moved to 4-0 on Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory against Penn State Shenango.

Simon added five service aces for the Pioneers in their (21-25), 25-13, 25-21 and 26-24 victory.

Second-year players Sarah Lucas had 15 digs and Summer Haney 10 for BC3, which was ranked No. 7 among 86 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III programs in a Week One poll released Aug. 31.

BC3’s program has been ranked in the Top 15 in Division III of the National Junior College Athletic Association in 38 of 42 polls dating to Oct. 4, 2021, including the past 19 in a row.

Penn State Shenango is 1-3.

Say on Friday night had 27 assists in BC3’s sweep of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Johnstown. Simon had 21 digs and Nosel 12 kills.

Say, a setter and opposite hitter, is a graduate of Keystone High School; Simon and Lucas are defensive specialists and Butler High graduates; Nosel is an outside hitter and Warren High graduate; and Haney is a defensive specialist and graduate of Laurel.

The Pioneers host Lorain County Community College (Elyria, Ohio) at 6 p.m. Friday in the Field House on BC3’s main campus in Butler Township. Lorain County is 3-1.

BC3 will also hold a tailgate party at 5 p.m. Sept. 9 in the balcony of the Field House before the Pioneers face Penn State Greater Allegheny at 6 p.m. Free pizza, cookies and drinks will be available, as will the opportunity to win gifts and door prizes. Admission to BC3’s regular-season home matches is free.
